At First Baptist Jacksonville, children begin learning about worship early in life. Children’s Choirs begin at four years old. Our Children’s Choirs consist of PreK – 5th grades. Children learn to worship through music, drama instruction, leading worship, and more. Our desire is to instill a love for Jesus and praising our Lord that will impact their lives for eternity. In addition to our concert celebrations that we perform twice a year, children will have opportunities to lead in worship at various times in Wednesday and Sunday services. Check out the details below and make plans to be a part of Kids Worship. You’ll be forever glad you did!

Hymn Memory Program
Our Hymn Memory program is an important component of Children’s Choir. The Hymns of the faith teach doctrine and connect the next generation to the great traditions of the church. This year, we are trying a new approach in hopes that the Hymn memory program will be used more readily for Family Worship at home, and this new model allows older children to help younger children learn. All choirs will learn the same hymns.
Each child receives a "hymn book" and each family will receive one CD. Hymn Memory songs are available on PCO for downloading. Every child who sings all their hymns (first verse & chorus) by memory will receive a Hymn Memory collector pin for their grade level. One of these special hymns will be sung for our Children’s Choir Celebration in the spring.
Each Christmas and each spring all choirs present a concert. 2nd – 5th Grade concerts are on a Sunday evening followed by a Life Together Fellowship. These older choirs have two full rehearsals prior to the concert. Pre-K – 1st grade presents a concert the Wednesday following the older choir concert. These younger choirs have one full rehearsal the day before the concert. Older Children with solos, speaking, or routine parts have rehearsals other than Wednesdays. Detailed information is given at the beginning of each semester regarding these concerts and parts.
