Friday, February 8, 6:30 PM or Saturday, February 9, 10:00 AM
Open auditions will include auditions for the following types of roles:
- Character Role (speaking, speaking & singing, and non-speaking)
- Children – UNDER AGE 10 (to be considered for child character roles and as townschildren)
Audition process for character roles (speaking and non-speaking, ADULTS & KIDS AGE 10+): The auditionee will prepare a MEMORIZED one-minute monologue to perform. Because of time constraints, you will be stopped if the monologue runs more than a minute. It is important to adequately rehearse the timing of the audition piece to ensure that you do not run over the time limit.
Audition process for singing character roles and soloists (ADULTS & KIDS AGE 10+):The auditionee will prepare a MEMORIZED one-minute monologue and a portion of a song that best showcases your vocal ability. Everyone wishing to audition for a solo must also present a monologue. Please limit your song to one verse and one chorus. (If desired, you may also include one bridge. One way to do this would be to sing ‘verse 2, bridge, chorus’). Please bring sheet music for the pianist. (Please do your best to have sheet music or a chord chart, but if you are unable to find sheet music, you may email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can help.) As a last resort, you also have the option to sing acapella, but you must tell the pianist your desired key. No tracks or phones will be allowed. Because of time constraints, you will be stopped if the monologue runs more than a minute or if your song exceeds the requested length. It is important to adequately rehearse the timing of the audition pieces to ensure that you do not run over the time limit.
Audition process for townspeople (ADULTS & KIDS AGE 10+): No prior preparation is necessary for auditioning as a townsperson. You will audition in a small group in a familiar scene, such as the crowd healing scene or the triumphal entry of Jesus. Your group will be given direction on the scene in which you will be reacting, including blocking, prior to the start of your group audition.
Audition process for CHILDREN UNDER AGE 10: Children will audition in a small group (of approximately 8 to 10). The group will sing Jesus Loves Me together, and the group will quote John 3:16 KJV together.
Verse text to teach your child: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
During all auditions, the LMA will be closed to everyone not on the casting committee. Anyone accompanying you must wait in the designated area of the dining room.
