Originally from Rome, Georgia, Cliff moved to Jacksonville and joined First Baptist Church in 1979. He majored in Psychology at Shorter University and is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies. Cliff has also earned his Master of Ministry degree in Biblical Theology with a concentration in Missiology from Temple Baptist Seminary.

He joined the staff of FBC Jax in 2011 after spending nearly 30 years in the business community. He currently serves as the Pastor of Missions where he oversees the partnerships between FBC, our members, and all of our mission ministry partners. Additionally, he oversees our eight International Ministries that meet on our downtown campus.

Cliff organizes the logistics of church wide events such as our annual Jacksonville Pastors’ Conference and is the Extension Center Director for the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary located on the FBC Downtown Campus.

Cliff believes that ministry staff should be a “Barnabas” to all whom they encounter. Barnabas’ name in Acts 4:36 means “son of encouragement”. As a representative of Jesus Christ, we should be eager to meet people and be that encourager that can make a difference in a person’s life, investing in their lives and helping them whenever possible. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reads, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

Cliff and his wife Susan have been married since 1980 and have two children. He enjoys reading and travel, meeting new people, and connecting people with ministries where they can serve our Lord.
