VBS 2019 FAQ
When is VBS?
Our 2019 VBS is Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. Check-in and walk-up registration begins at 8:45 each morning.
Who may attend VBS?
VBS is for children from 3 years of age through completion of 7th grade.
Do you have to be a member of FBC JAX to attend VBS?
You do not need to be a member of FBC JAX to attend VBS. We welcome all children, 3 years of age through the completion of 7th grade, to attend VBS.
Where do I park?
Families with preschool age children may park in the Preschool Garage located on the corner of Laura and Ashley Streets (520 N. Laura Street). Access to all check-in and classrooms locations is available on the 4th floor of the Preschool Garage.
All others may park in Garage 3 located on the corner of Beaver and Hogan Streets (710 North Hogan Street).
How much does it cost to attend VBS?
VBS is completely free of charge!
How do I register?
Pre-registration is available online before VBS. Click here to register online. Walk-up registration for children accompanied by a parent or guardian is available each day of VBS beginning at 8:45 am on Monday.
I pre-registered my child online. Where do I go when we arrive at VBS?
Preschool Children (3 years through Completion of Kindergarten): Please check in your child(ren) at a kiosk and then proceed directly to your child’s classroom. The room # will be on your child’s stickers. All of preschooler's VBS classrooms are located in the Preschool Building.
Elementary Children (Completed 1st through 4th Grades) & Middle School Students (Completed 5th through 7th Grades): All children registered online will proceed to the 1st-floor lobby of the Lindsay Memorial Auditorium and check-in at a kiosk and then proceed into the auditorium.
Is it possible for my child to be in the same classroom as our neighbor or family member?
We will always strive to accommodate special requests with our room assignments, however, due to the large number of children, please understand we may be unable to honor the request due to teacher/child ratios and/or developmental stages within the requested classroom.
What should the children wear to VBS?
Children should be dressed in comfortable clothing appropriate for both indoor and outdoor play. Tennis shoes are recommended for safety in play outdoors.
Do I need to bring my child’s birth certificate or any paperwork?
Parents do not need to bring a birth certificate. All of the necessary information is included on the registration form.
What do I do if I need to pick up my child early?
Preschool Children (3 years through Completion of Kindergarten): Please communicate with the classroom teacher upon check-in regarding your need to pick up early. The teacher will let you know if your child will be on rotation during your estimated arrival time and will assist with making sure you are connected quickly for pick up. Should you need additional assistance in this process, please go to the Preschool Desk on the 2nd floor of the Preschool Building.
Elementary Children (Completed 1st through 4th Grades) & Middle School Students (Completed 5th through 7th Grades): Please communicate this information at the Guest Relations Desk in the 1st floor lobby of the Preschool Building. They will be able to provide the information on where your child will be on rotation during the time of early pick-up. We will have your child meet you at the guest services desk.
Is lunch provided during VBS? Do I need to bring a lunch?
Lunch is not provided during VBS. However, snacks are provided each morning.
Preschool Children (3 years through Completion of Kindergarten): A list of provided snacks will be posted outside the door of all Preschool Ministry Classrooms to assist in the identification of potential allergens in the classroom.
Elementary Children (Completed 1st through 4th Grades): All snacks served are peanut/nut free. If you would like to send a snack for your child, please place the snack in a ziplock bag. All snacks should be peanut free.
What do I need to do if my child has a severe allergy and requires an EPI pen be on his person?
Please note this special need on the registration form.
Preschool Children (3 years through Completion of Kindergarten): You will also need to inform our nurse. For assistance with EPI pens, and other special needs, please ask for our Preschool Ministry nurse at the Preschool Desk on the 2nd floor of the Preschool Building.
Elementary Children (Completed 1st through 4th Grades): Please notify the volunteers at the check-in table if any severe allergies require epi pen/medications. We will note this on a special wristband the student will wear at all times.
Will my older child be able to pick up a younger child at VBS?
All children must be picked up by an adult and the child pick-up receipt sticker must be presented. A photo of the sticker is acceptable. Preschoolers (3 years of age through completion of Kindergarten) will only be released to authorized adults. Preschoolers will not be released to minors for the safety and security of all.
Do you provide any childcare after VBS?
There is no childcare provided after VBS.
Can I be in the classroom with my child?
We welcome our parents to bring their children to VBS. However, all adults must be members of our church and with completed and cleared background screenings to be eligible to serve with children in VBS.
Is my child required to purchase a VBS t-shirt and/or CD?
No. You may purchase a VBS t-shirt from Lifeway.com for your child if you desire. There will be no children's t-shirts for sale on campus the week of VBS. However, the VBS music CD's can be purchased from the 4 Grounds Coffee Shop (Preschool Building 1st floor). Preschool and Children's CD's are available for $3 each while supplies last.
